How It Started and It’s Vision
After graduating from college in 2016, founder Ali Kaminetsky moved into a New York City apartment and planned to start her job in retail. Every night before, she’d make sure to pack lunch to work because of how much faster, cheaper and healthier it was. However, she quickly realized she did not have a chic or functional way to store or carry her food.
When she googled “lunchbox” she saw many options for little kids and for men, but nothing for women who wanted to look and feel their best. This sparked her inner entrepreneurship and decided to reinvent the wheel on traditional lunchboxes. From there, Modern Picnic was born!
Since launching in 2018, the company has grown an incredible amount through growing their team, product line, leaning into meaningful, impactful partnerships. They are proud brand partners of American Express, and have worked with other brands such as Martha Stuart, Dr. Brandt, Hungry Root, Guest of a Guest and more. They are also diving more into press and support from editors having been featured in publications such as Vogue, The New York Times, The Today Show, Harpers Bazaar, amongst others.
Modern Picnic’s goals are to continue to work towards three pillars for growth which are: licensing/partnerships, distribution and product.
