In 1974, Animal lover, Sissy Harrington McGill, noticed that European Great Danes were living longer than their American counterparts. She strongly believed their different diets were the root cause for the shorter life expectancy. From there, she made it a mission to create a worthy, nutritious, healthy, and natural food that her dogs deserved.
Inspired by higher quality European pet foods, Hund-N-Flocken was born! It’s the flagship product and Sissy’s 1st recipe. It takes a holistic approach to dog foods and contains real meat, whole grains, and nutrient dense superfoods. This recipe took the pet food industry by storm. Sissy strongly believed that pets deserve to be healthy and happy and one of the best ways to ensure that was through high quality pet foods. 45 years later, Solid Gold continues to stand by this belief and offers an uncompromising holistic approach to high quality pet foods.
Sissy McGill is an owner and crucial member of the Solid Gold Family. She celebrated her 86th birthday in early 2019 and proudly works five days a week at her retail store, Holistic Gold Nutrition Center, located in sunny and pet friendly California!
